Online training and testing

National Member Training Information Online Courses Online Testing

Any Auxiliarist may take the on-line tests. For credit purposes, all Districts have been authorized by the CHDIRAUX to participate in the on-line testing program and will receive credit towards qualification, re-qualification or certification. The District Director of Auxiliary and District Commodore of all Districts have to approve participation in this program prior to CHDIRAUX authorization. The on-line tests are excellent practice and learning materials for all Auxiliarists. (Note: D13, DIRAUX has approved this process.)

Coast Guard Schools

"C" Schools: Don't pass up the chance to attend a "C" school your job requires. Many courses are now available, so review course descriptions and schedules below. When you find the "C" school you need, fill-out a Short Term Training Request (CG-5523) and route to your Flotilla Commander for approval.

Member Uniforms: How much do you know about the wearing of the Coast Guard Uniform? Answer your questions by attending the online uniform brief from DIRAUX. This brief is a resource from Auxiliary e-training. During the brief use the yellow arrow buttons to go forward or reverse.

Training

Consult with your FSO-MT or SO-MT first, for any training issues you might have. Use the below files only to supplement any training material given. Many of the files below are from Coast Guard District Seven, Miami FL. Disregard any links that specifically discuss D7 issues. Use these files ONLY for training purposes.

**Qualification Training**
Member Basic Qual Training	Initial qualification training all new Auxiliary Members must either take in a classroom or online.
In-Flotilla Training	Miscellaneous training for the flotilla
AuxAPC	AUXMIN: A 12-hour specialty course in procedures, protocol and administration. AUXAPC: A basic administration class designed for elected Auxiliary officers.
Auxiliary Leadership AUXLEA	8 Hours of training in how to be a successful leader and motivate volunteers.
Instructor Qualification	12 Hours of training leading to qualification as an Auxiliary instructor.
Vessel Examiner	10 Hour class plus practical applications which permit the member to participate in the VE program.
Program Visitor	A 6 Hours class which certifies the member as a MDV and a major link with local marinas and boat dealers.
Air Operations	Practical and classroom training leading to qualification as an Air Observer, and training for pilots to be certified as Auxiliary pilots.

**Boat Crew**
Crew/ Coxswain	Practical and classroom training leading to qualification as Boat crew or Coxswain. Boat crew may serve as crew in Auxiliary surface operations, while Coxswains may serve as operators while on authorized surface missions.

**Specialty Courses**
Seamanship AUXSEA	10 Hours of advanced training in boat handling, mechanical systems and on-the-water emergencies.
Navigation AUXNAV	32 Hours of training in all aspects of coastal navigation, including piloting, radar and electronic navigation.
Communications AUXCOM	14 Hour class in radio communication allowing the member to participate in the communications program.
Search & Rescue AUXSAR	40 Hours of training in the U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue procedures.
Patrols AUXPAT	10 Hours of training in procedures for operating Safety, Regatta and Marine Parade Patrols, and topics on safety and leadership while on the water.
Weather AUXWEA	A comprehensive, 12-hour class in weather -- what causes it and how to predict changes.
